Grace is the founder of her small business, CHIA Studios. A digital media and performing arts production house where she works with artists and musicians at early stages of their career to produce industry standard content. “CHIA Studios” formerly known as “Grace Chia Photography” was founded in 2015. Over the years Grace has grown and advanced in her crafts and passions and worked with a high volume of diverse clients across the state. Grace loves both the digital and hands on parts of her job. She has a high interest in new, experimental technologies and techniques.
Through her business she promotes and organises regular hip-hop gigs in Hobart and liaisons with interstate hip-hop artists for their Tassie legs of tours. CHIA Studios was a finalist for The Strategic Alliance Small Business Category and the winner of The People’s Choice Award from The Young Achiever’s Awards 2023.
CHIA Studios has previously shot for The ABC (Women in Media Launch at MONA), GetUp! activism event, BighArt “Acoustic Life of Sheds”, Sawtooth Art Gallery, Poimena Art Gallery, Junction Arts Festival, Party in The Paddock (2016-2019), Launceston College Productions (2015-2017) and has been shortlisted for The Moran Portraiture Prize and The RACT Portrait Prize and was the winner of The Ken Duncan Photography Competition. She has also photographed countless local music and poetry gigs across the state including Slamduggery, We’ve Got A Story To Tell, Elevated Music Events, Tasmanian Hip-Collective music event, When She Believes, Project 01: Lake Repulse (2020) and many more.
As well as photography, Grace produces film and graphic design content. CHIA Studios has created music videos for many local emerging artists in addition to album/single artwork, gig posters and promotional content.
